We have pores all over our skin. They help the skin remain hydrated, remove toxins and help the skin breathe. When these pores expand due to clogging and dilation, they appear big in size and are called as open pores.
Although they do not cause any harm, the pores on the face look awful. It is advisable to consult a dermatologist and get this condition treated.
Causes For Open Pores
Common causes of open pores are oily skin, excessive sweating, blackheads, genetic, unhygienic habits or using poor quality makeup.
Depending on the cause of the open pores, the treatment is suggested.
For oily skin, face washes and toners containing salicylic acid are suggested. This removes the keratin plugs and thus reduces open pores. Oral and topical retinoid is also suggested for reducing oil secretions.
TCA Cross: Tri-chloro-acetic acid (TCA) is applied on the walls of the open pores with the use of a toothpick. A black scab is formed on each pore which falls off within 10 days.
AFT technology: This technology stimulates the formation of new skin. Natural light is made to reach deep inside the skin. This leads to the formation of collagen and this Pixel perfect technology pushes the skin to self exfoliate and new skin is formed within seven days.
This light-based device employed to rejuvenate the skin results in a bright and fresh skin immediately.
Laser treatment: To reduce bigger pits and craters caused by acne scars, Lasers are very effective. They induce collagen remodeling.
Derma Rollers: This treatment is used in mild to moderate pores. These help in collagen remodeling and thus reduce the pores
How long does it take to get results?
With AFT technology, you get immediate results.
It takes 7 days for the Pixel perfect technology to show effect and 7 to 10 days in case of TCA cross.
Lasers and Derma Rollers may need a few repetitions and this depends on how severe the condition is.
How long do the results of the treatment last?
It is likely that the results of treatment may last lifelong. However, there is a possibility of open pores to return with unhygienic conditions, aging, hormonal changes, etc.
Conditions in which open pores should not be treated
When the open pores are a side effect of any medications or treatment; wait for the side effects of that treatment to subside.
