What is Acne?

Acne is a skin condition that is caused by an imbalance of hormones, dead skin cells, and oil that clog the skin’s oil glands and hair follicles. This clogging causes mild to severe lesions that can form on the face, neck, shoulders, back, and chest.
Commonly occurring and relatively easy to treat, acnes are usually synonymous with teenagers and young adults, but prompt treatment and healthy prevention practices helps greatly reduce the frequency of acne occurring in later years.

How severe can acne get?

From simple blackheads and pimples to large painful nodules and cysts – Acne has the tendency to get more severe if not addressed with a holistic and long-lasting approach to its treatment. The best tip while dealing with acne would be to maintain a healthy diet and consult a dermatologist or skin specialist if the problem persists for more than a week.

Our holistic approach to acne treatment

At DNA Skin Clinic, our primary goal is to cure skin ailments with as little external intervention as possible. In the case of acne treatment, we believe that the simpler the solution, the better! The skin science experts at DNA Skin Clinic follow a simple three step approach to treating acne:

  • Examine the extent of the problem
  • Find a treatment that helps heal, reduce, and resolve the severity of the acne
  • Counsel and prescribe a home care routine that helps altogether eliminate the problem

We believe that a holistic and well-rounded solution is far more impactful than a quick fix that is not prognostic.

What are the different cures for acne?

Blackheads, Whiteheads, and Minor pimples: Topical Medication – Outer application of medicine which helps treat mild cases of acne in a matter of 4-8 weeks.
Mild – Moderate Acne: Prescribed topical medication can range from antibiotics and vitamin A based supplements to medifacials. Treatment can take up to 4-8 before showing any signs of improvement.
Moderate – Severe Acne: Prescription of oral antibiotics and topical medication help control bacteria and reduce inflammation. Further treatment is prescribed by the dermatologist based on severity of the condition.
