Pre-wedding Beauty Guide - DNA Skin Clinic
pre wedding beauty guide

While you must be busy preparing for the big day, whether you’re a bride or a groom one thing that shouldn’t be forgotten is your skin. To let your skin radiate your happiness, daily care is an essential part of the wedding preparation. Do not keep skincare and treatment for the last minute, start preparing your body at least 3-4 months ahead. It is advisable to consult a dermatologist who will help you with the best advice and treatments to suit your skin type.

Before we discuss some of the clinical treatments that can add to the beauty of your skin, let us first have a look at the general skin care tips to ensure you have healthy and glowing skin on your wedding day.

Diet & Exercise: Your skin reflects the kind of food you eat so the first and the most important thing is to eat healthy and nutritious meals. Being busy through the preparation, one generally misses having water, so make it a point to drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your skin hydrated. Include protein-rich food in your diet along with fresh fruits, green leafy vegetables and dry fruits like walnuts and almonds. Avoid sugar, too much salt, junk food, and oil as much as you can.

Just as the right food intake is important for healthy and beautiful skin, exercise is equally important to keep you active, energized, and maintain proper blood circulation. Do not overexert yourself but make sure that you do some light exercises like walking, yoga, jogging, etc at least thrice a week.

Protection From Sun: Being busy with shopping, you get prone to excessive exposure to sun and therefore, make sure to put on sunscreen before stepping out. Always have an umbrella or a hat with you for extra protection. Apply a sunscreen of SPF 30 or more at least 15 mins before moving out in the sun. Wear a sun cream that suits your skin type and try to avoid going out during the hottest hours of the day.

The Correct Shower: Do not stay in the shower for more than 10 minutes as it will lead to the loss of natural essential oils from the skin. For skin health, a shower is considered better compared to a bath as bathing tends to dehydrate the skin. Also, use gentle and soap-free skincare products cleansing your body. Lipid-rich soaps are the best ones for daily cleansing of your skin. Do not rub the body with a towel instead gently pat it with a towel to dry. Lukewarm or cold water should be used to ensure that the natural oils stay on the skin. Avoid hot water shower/bath as it rips the skin off the natural oils and makes it dull.

Regular Skincare Regime: No matter how busy you are amidst the preparations, do follow the skincare regime religiously. Cleansing, toning, and moisturizing is a must every day. Apply a good moisturizer before going to bed to help skin heal through the damages it went during the day. Use products that are gentle and free from harsh and toxic ingredients.

Proper Sleep Cycle: Well, sleep is one thing that is difficult to get in the buzz around a marriage. But irregular sleep cycles and sleep deprivation will make you and your skin flat irrespective of the products and treatments. A good night’s sleep of a minimum of 6 hours is necessary for the body as well as your skin to regain its energy and look fresh.

Apart from following general guidelines to have that perfect skin on the wedding day and beyond, you can also opt for certain clinical interventions to shine in the spotlight.
